The Overview's spend band
The Overview shows what your executions spent this month, day by day, in a band across the full width of the screen, directly under its four counters. The band is titled Spend this month.
One column per day
The band has one column for each day of the month that has passed, today included, filling it from the left. On the first day of a month it shows one column. The days still to come have no column: their place in the band stays empty until they come. The numbers under the band mark the first day and every fifth one.
Each column is that day's own total across every task, never a running sum of the days before it. In the token view, a column is one block, every kind of token summed, not a stack of them.
Cost or tokens
A selector at the top of the band switches it between Cost and Tokens:
- Cost, the default, is the estimated cost in US dollars. It is an estimate at API list prices, from a price table.
- Tokens is the number of tokens the attempts used.
HarmFlow keeps your choice, so the band opens in the same view the next time you launch the app. The month's total sits in a corner of the band, in the unit the selector shows: in dollars, as "this month, an estimate at API list prices", or in tokens, as "tokens this month".
Which day an attempt counts on
Days follow your Mac's local time zone. An attempt counts on the day it ended, so an execution whose attempts end on both sides of midnight counts in both days, each attempt on its own day. An attempt still running counts on no day until it ends.
A marked day
A day whose figures undercount carries a mark, ▲, above its column, and a note under the band says what the mark means. A day is marked when one of its attempts:
- used a model the price table omits. Its tokens are known and its cost is not, so it undercounts the cost only: this mark shows in the cost view and not in the token view.
- reported no usage. Its harness reported no figures for it, so it undercounts both views.
- ended with only a partial count. It has input tokens but no output tokens and no cost, so it counts as partial in both views.
- is still running. While an attempt runs, the day in progress carries the mark in both views.
Hovering over a day, or moving to it with the keyboard, shows its date, its figure, and how many attempts ended that day. On a marked day, it also shows how many attempts are behind the mark, one line for each reason.
The axis
The axis tops out at no less than $10 in the cost view, or 2M tokens in the token view, so that one small day never fills the band. Once the month's dearest day passes that figure, the axis tops out at that day.
A month with no execution
When no execution has run in the month, the band still shows its grid and its axis, with the message No execution this month and a total of zero.
Where the figures come from
HarmFlow sums the figures each time the band asks for them, from what each execution's record keeps of its attempts. It keeps no file of totals.
